At that time, Ramey manufactured and sold sawmill blowers and hand-crank vacuum cleaners. After moving to Columbus, Ramey operated out of a carriage house on Wall Street behind the Neil House. This is where the Huntington National Bank Building now sits. First generation family-owner, McGee Swepston, went to work for Ramey in the early 1910s as a bookkeeper. Later, with a group of partners, he purchased the company. McGee eventually bought out his partners to become sole owner. In 1921, McGee and Ramey purchased the manufacturing rights to the Butler Furnace from the F.B. Zeig Manufacturing Company of Fredericktown, OH and the Butler Furnace Company was born. Butler Furnace Company began as a manufacturer and evolved the business to include sales and installation of the Butler Furnace.
